We would like to take this opportunity to remind parents to be vigilant at all times with their children in and around the beach environment.
It is imperative that all children under the age of 14 have a parent / guardian or carer on the beach at all times. If you need to leave the beach area, please inform your childs Age Group Manager or take you child/ren with you.
Upon registration, each parent would have received a copy or email of the 2017 Junior Development Parent Handbook, containing information and expectations. Below are a couple of excerts.
3. SUNDAY'S PROGRAM & TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
All Nippers must be signed on by a parent/carer before going onto the beach and sign off by a parent /carer at the end of training so that we can account for all Nippers on the beach.
Sign On from 8:45am for a 9:00am start
Please advise the Director of Junior Development or your child’s Age Manager of your designated guardian/carer if you are unable to be present.
6. PARENT RESPONSIBILITIES
It is important that you NEVER leave your child unattended at Nippers. If a child is left unattended we may exclude that child from future participation in the program.
As parents, you have a clear responsibility to act in a constructive and encouraging manner at all times.....
While we want to encourage all children to become Nippers, the Nipper program is designed for children aged 5 through to 13, if your child does not turn 5 prior to September 30, they cannot participate in programmed Nipper activities.
The vision for our Nippers program is to provide a safe, friendly and welcoming environment where both Nippers and parents can learn about surf life saving and to prepare our Nippers to eventually be patrolling members of our club.
We focus on having fun, teaching, enhancing skills and emphasising community awareness. We aim to ensure that beaches patrolled by Gove Peninsula Surf Lifesaving Club are safe places to swim; to prevent the loss of life and to develop and educate our youth. (Always swim between the flags of a patrolled beach)
